Visit to the Vanhaerents Art Collection and opening of the Disorder in the House exhibition.
Saturday, 2 June, the members of The Art Society gathered at the quartier Dansaert in Brussels to discover Walter and Bernies Vanhaerents impressive contemporary art collection. Recently Walter and Bernies Vanhaerents took the initiative to make their contemporary art collection accessible to the public by opening a private museum. Their collection is housed in an ancient three-floor loft with a total area of 350 square metres. The well-known Belgian architects, Paul Robbrecht and Hilde Daem, have masterly renovated this building.
The Vanhaerents art collection is very international and comprises many works of young artists in their thirties and forties, as can be seen in the opening exhibition where we find works by Tom Sachs, Matthew Barney, Jason Rhoades, Ugo Rondinone… With Disorder in the house, Vanhaerents - the director commissioner himself - deliberately opted for an extrovert and provocative exhibition with undeniable Pop Art roots
